Mijzen festival
The ‘Mijzen Festival is a local festival set in the “Mijzenpolder’ a protected nature reserve and cultural heritage landscape and one of the oldest ‘polders’, area of reclaimed land, in The Netherlands. The festival celebrates the special nature of this landscape and its community by presenting music, theatre, visual arts as well as science events, all based on one of the aspects special to this environment. In 2008 the theme was Wind.
In the design I wanted to emphasise the local community set in the landscape and combine this with the festival theme and the playful nature of the festival. I commissioned the photographer Anke van Iersel to photograph members of the local community blowing bubbles in the wind… These photographs formed the leading theme of the publicity.
